Daughter of Rigby Capital Regional Manager ‘just wants to help poorly people with cancer’ – raising £12,000

8 year old ‘Charley Bear’ walks 490,000 steps to raise funds for Cancer Research UK

Charley is 8 years old and the daughter of Nick Talbot-Butler, one of our Regional Managers at Rigby Capital UK who is currently fighting myeloma, a blood cancer.

Last month, Charley decided to ‘walk on cancer’ by walking 10,000 steps a day to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.  (By the end of the month she had clocked up an amazing 490,000 – even getting out of her sick bed for her daily walk when feeling poorly herself as in her words ‘I just want to help my Daddy and people like Daddy who are also poorly’.)

Her original target was £200 – which she had blown within hours of launching her campaign.  The Rigby Capital management team was so impressed with her tenacity, bravery and kindness that they matched her £1 for £1 and to date she has raised over £12000!

In addition, as a loyal ‘Cityzen’  her ‘local’ football team – Manchester City – hearing of her hard work and determination – gifted her not only a full football strip but also a place on the video wall on last weekend’s match against Leeds.  Furthermore, Cancer Research has said that they have never had so much raised by a child of that age!

What an amazing superstar Charley is (or ‘Bear’ as she is known)! It’s a wonderful story for us to reflect on after this difficult year for all – an 8 year old leading the way through her love and humanity. Well done Charley, we are all so proud of you!
